Figma
Web Content Strategist

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my interest in the Web Content Strategist position at Figma. The description—someone who loves the intersection of design, content, and web—captures exactly where I've built my career. For seven years at California College of the Arts, I've been creating web experiences that serve both brand goals and user needs, working at the intersection of marketing strategy and technical execution.

My experience at CCA is directly relevant to this role. I've developed content strategies for complex institutional web properties serving multiple audiences—prospective students, current students, faculty, alumni, and donors—each with different needs and journeys. I understand how to translate business goals into compelling user experiences while maintaining brand consistency and voice.

I work daily at the intersection of writers, designers, and developers. My progression from Interaction Designer to UX Designer/Developer means I can speak all three languages fluently. I create user journeys that inform content structure, design information architecture that's intuitive to navigate, and collaborate with developers on implementation. I'm comfortable leading projects autonomously or working as part of cross-functional teams.

I use Figma daily—for design work, prototyping, and collaboration. I understand the product deeply from a user's perspective, which helps me think about how to communicate its value to different audiences. I know what excites users about Figma because I experience that excitement myself.

Web craft matters to me. I've advocated for accessible, intuitive web experiences at CCA, leading improvements to our color contrast standards and navigation patterns. I think about web experiences holistically—how content, design, and functionality work together to serve users and achieve business objectives. I'm also curious about emerging web technologies and enjoy experimenting with new approaches.

I'm based in Oakland and would work from the San Francisco hub or remotely. The opportunity to shape how Figma shows up in the world—with clarity and craft—on a brand I genuinely love is deeply motivating.

Thank you for considering my application. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my experience creating web strategies for complex, multi-audience organizations could contribute to Figma's Brand Studio.

Sincerely,

Joel Lithgow
