Diegetic UI

Interface elements that exist inside the game's world, so the characters could see them too. From diegetic: of or relating to diegesis, the world a story's events take place in.

Notes

I love this stuff, I traditionally think of Dead Space and Gears of War when I think of this concept, and it’s been popping up in my thought again recently as I’ve started to get back into UI design and making my own website cms have more visual editing capabilities. I think I'm hoping to maybe see a resurgence in this craft, thanks to AI coding generation, as it theoretically should be easier to map stats and information to dynamic objects. Nothing crazy to write about yet, just capturing the word and thought for now.
